Book Tour, Second Stop -- Floyd County Library in Prestonsburg KY

by Nancy Rose on 04/27/16

The second book tour event at the Floyd County Library in Prestonsburg was heart-warming, Sat April 23.

The event began with introductions to Chestnut Hill's historical novels by Justin Turner, set in eastern Kentucky and the Blue Grass.  Chestnut Hill determines to publish authentic, non-stereotypical voices from eastern Kentucky.  Steve Allen read a captivating short story  from his book, Beaver Creek.  He had the audience laughing and thinking long thoughts, as is the way of people from the hills.  To learn more about these books, check the Chestnut Hill website.

After restocking plates with food prepared by local caterer, Sandy, the audience of family, friends luminaries, and the newly met, listened to Nancy Rose read from Backstroking All Night in the Starpool.  Nancy choose poems about growing up in Drift, on Middle Creek and in Prestonsburg. Poems touched on ancestry, family, acquired family, and life in Montana, and were greeted with tears, smiles and laughter.  The readings were followed by good visiting time with friends and members of the Gibson, Turner, Allen and Rose clans.

Amazing connections were and are continually uncovered!

Thanks to Randy Reno for the arrangements, and to John Rose for toting many books and posters.
